Well, Dukes facing rough times.
It defies the physical laws of nature how so much bad shit could go down in these past two weeks. The rest of the year was so calm and peaceful, but now. Damn, I'm not even sure what I'll be able to tell the pfrosh.
-Lizard shorting out the University's power (OK, dumb accident) -Bus spontaneously catching on fire (OK, the bus was old) -Duke's Quiz Bowl team almost dissolves -Jewish Center serves mediocre Flounder for fish night instead of their normal amazing Salmon or Tilapia.
OH, and did I mention the large gaping full thickness wound we just opened with the Durham community? The administration works so hard to improve our relations with Durham, and now some lacrosse players foolishly blow it.
A major annoyance I have with Durham is that, we are for all intensive purposes the ONLY employeer in Durham (RTP is technically in Cary or even just its own entity), yet the locals still despise us. Without us, Durham would just be a tired old city of empty tobacco warehouses. Also, if we have such poor relations with our neighbors, why doesn't Duke just buy every building within a 2-3 block radius of East Campus, add them to the RLHS system (Or use their company, Durham Realty) to create a large student/faculty community with a surronding buffer zone? Furthermore, how come the university doesn't take an active role in developing 9th street into a better place to eat/shop? Our operating budget is only 2.8 billion to begin with, why not invest in the community rather than in plasma screens in the marketplace to remind us to "Think Positively."
At least some good has come recently, our horifically bad Cater, ARAMARK, announced that they will no longer feed us.Current Mood: Undefined Current Music: Masonic Funeral Music- W.A. Mozart

Canada was nice, the taxes are high since they cover the cost of the state run health care. On the way up my dad let me drive through the Adirondacks at 60 mph. There are no more than 500 feet of straight road at a time in those mountains. So you have to constantly accelerate, decelerate and turn.
On the way home, I stopped in Ithaca to actually see what Cornell is like when there are students, gasp! what a difference from June. Anyway, I'm now seriously considering applying early based on the conclusion that they have the best BME program for what I want to do with my degree, a doctroral degree. So as a result, I can get a PhD in a disjointed subject like virology. :-D
My schedule also came: 1. AP Lit 2. Calc 3. Gov 4. Eco 5. GERMAN 1 No more Spanish!!!!!!!!!! 6. Gym/lunch 7-8. AP Chem 9. STAR 10. AP Physics C
